Beatrice Pulvirenti


Beatrice Pulvirenti is Associate Professor at the University of Bologna’s Department of Industrial Engineering, Italy. She has 20 years’ experience in engineering applications for low carbon sustainable energy technologies and advanced heat exchangers design for sustainable vehicle applications. She has been a member of several study-course councils at the University of Bologna, such as “Mechanical Engineering” and the new master’s degree “Electric Vehicle Engineering”, where she teaches the course “Vehicle Energetics and HVAC Systems”. She has been the research and project manager for the project “LiBER, Lithium Battery in Emilia-Romagna” which deals with the integration of novel technologies for low-carbon battery packs for automotive and second life applications in buildings. 

She participated in the design and development of a solar powered car which won the American Solar Challenge (ASC) Competition in 2018, a 1500-mile cross-country endurance rally across North America using only the energy of the sun. She deals with interdisciplinary projects for the mitigation of climate change effects on cities and rural areas by means of nature-based solutions (NBS). She has also been the leader of the Italian Open-Air Laboratory for H2020 project OPERANDUM (OPEn-air laboRAtories for Nature baseD solUtions to Manage hydro-meteo risks) in the years 2018-2022.
